Launched at Singapore Pavillion at COP29, AI-Powered GAIADEX Streamlines LCAs, Boosts Transparency, and Accelerates Sustainable Practices Across Industries.
Baku, Azerbaijan – Razer, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, has officially unveiled GAIADEX, an AI-powered Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Large Language Model, at the COP29 Singapore Pavillion. GAIADEX offers a comprehensive, streamlined solution for LCA and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) across various industries. To demonstrate its capabilities, Razer has partnered with industry leaders including GE Healthcare and Maybank for proof-of-concept deployments.
GAIADEX was designed to streamline the LCA process, from data collection to report generation, significantly reducing the time and effort required to analyze environmental impact of products from creation to disposal. By leveraging artificial-intelligence (AI), GAIADEX compresses months of work into seconds, providing in-depth LCA reports that are validated against international ISO standards (ISO 14040, 14044) and EPD International’s Product Category Rules (PCR).
“We believe that sustainability should be accessible to all. GAIADEX is our commitment to breaking down barriers and making it easier for companies to adopt greener practices,” said Kenneth Ng, Razer’s Global Sustainability Lead. ” By empowering businesses with this innovative solution, we are making LCA more accessible and efficient while driving the global industry towards a more meaningful and sustainable future.”
GAIADEX: Redefining Sustainability
GAIADEX addresses a major challenge in the sustainability sector: the inconsistency of environmental standards. Many brands create proprietary LCA frameworks, each with varying methodologies and data, which hinders product comparisons across competitors. This lack of standardization halts meaningful product comparisons, fuels consumer skepticism, and complicates regulatory oversight while also leading to inefficiencies as brands duplicate efforts in developing their own standards.
As sustainability demands grow, particularly around Scope 3 emissions, traditional LCAs face significant hurdles. Time-consuming manual processes, high costs, and limited accessibility, especially for startups, often restrict the adoption of robust LCA practices. GAIADEX aims to overcome these challenges by promoting international standards for LCAs, providing transparent and comparable framework.
Razer understands the value of providing a full end-to-end experience for brands to execute their EPD journey. Verification of the EPD is necessary for it to be considered credible in the marketplace and therefore Razer is developing these features of GAIADEX to facilitate independent third-party certification of EPDs by program operators like UL Solutions. UL Solutions has certified Razer EPDs for Basilisk gaming mice which allows for confident data disclosure backed by science and published in the UL SPOT database.
GE HealthCare has joined forces with Razer to pioneer a more sustainable future by quantifying and reducing the environmental impact of GEHC products. As a pilot initiative, the Singapore Repair and Engineering Center utilized Razer’s cutting-edge GAIADEX platform to assess and compare the environmental footprint of various Vscan product iterations. This collaboration underscores GE HealthCare’s commitment to advancing sustainable innovation, with a long-term vision to streamline lifecycle assessments (LCA), reduce operational complexity and costs, and set a new standard for sustainability in the healthcare industry.
“Our collaboration with Razer provides a holistic view of product footprints, supporting our sustainability goals,” said Mark Stoesz, President Enterprise Solutions and Partnerships International Markets
This initiative reflects GE HealthCare’s aspiration to align all of its products with Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) standards by 2030.”
Shahril Azuar Jimin, Group Chief Sustainability Officer of Maybank, a leading bank in ASEAN, said, “By adopting GAIADEX, we plan to integrate embodied carbon as a core sustainability performance target for our green loans and sustainability-linked loans. We hope to encourage clients to set more ambitious carbon reduction goals, and mobilise sustainable finance and promote environmental accountability.”
With GAIADEX’s intuitive interface, users can effortlessly upload their Bill-of-Materials (BOM) and, within a mere 5 minutes, receive comprehensive LCA reports that adhere to rigorous ISO 14040/14044 standards and specific product category rules (PCRs). This new innovative technology will allow Razer to transform the sustainability landscape with updated LCA and EPD processes.
To ensure these reports meet industry standards, GAIADEX integrates seamlessly with independent verifiers for third-party validation, culminating in the issuance of official ecolabels through a streamlined, automated process. This self-service function eliminates the need for expensive consulting services, typically costing USD $40K per EPD, making sustainability measurement more accessible. By leveraging domain-aware Large Language Models (LLM), GAIADEX empowers organizations, from multinational corporations to start-ups, to obtain EPD ecolabels quickly and affordably, offering a competitive edge in the evolving green trade landscape.
With GAIADEX, Razer is set to revolutionize how companies approach environmental responsibility, providing a faster, user-friendly, cost-effective solution for businesses worldwide.
