Razer rallies the gaming community in the fight against Covid-19

IRVINE, USA – Razer™, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, is calling upon gamers worldwide to join forces in the fight against COVID-19, and all they need to do is Stay Home and Game On. Gamers can make an impact by playing games, earning Razer Silver for free, and pledging their Razer Silver for surgical masks to be donated to frontline health workers around the globe.

Users can check if their favorite PC or mobile games qualify to earn Razer Silver on the Paid to Play games list from the free Razer Cortex game optimization software available for PC or Android mobile devices.  Launching games using Razer Cortex allow users to rack up Razer Silver, which they can exchange to redeem a variety of rewards like Razer hardware, digital gift cards and more games. Now users can also use their Razer Silver to support donating masks for frontline workers.

“We are calling on the gaming community to do what we do best, stay home and game on, and now for a good cause, too,” said Min-Liang Tan, Chief Executive Officer at Razer. “Razer’s unique ecosystem of hardware, software and services has always been geared towards the gamer and now we have a way to allow the gaming community to directly contribute to Razer’s key COVID-19 initiatives. For those who are game enough to rise to the challenge, we are excited to see how many masks we can pledge together.”

Play games to donate masks

In addition to the Paid to Play program, gamers can also contribute to mask donations via Razer Gold, the largest unified virtual credit for games and entertainment in the world. Upon signing up for Razer Gold, users will receive a welcome gift of 1000 Razer Silver. To earn more Razer Silver, they can simply spend on their favorite games or game credits using Razer Gold.  Users can then pledge their accumulated Razer Silver to support donating surgical masks to frontline workers. So far, more than 30,000 masks have already been donated by gamers around the world by pledging their Silver.

This new initiative is part of Razer’s ongoing campaign, #RazerForLife, to support communities and businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic and is additional to Razer’s commitment of donating 1 million masks to affected communities around the globe.

Razer is always adding new games and new ways that gamers can earn Razer Silver free of charge. Game Publishers who would like to participate in Razer Cortex’s Paid to Play program can reach out to Razer at developer.razer.com/razer-gold-developer-and-partner-program/
