Razer rolls out SE Asia’s first esports bootcamp

SINGAPORE – Razer, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, today announced the first ever regional esports bootcamp to be held Singapore from 2 to 3 September 2019, and global esports powerhouse team Evil Geniuses will make their first appearance here.

The Razer SEA Games Esports Bootcamp will bring together the esports national teams from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines to be trained by Evil Geniuses for the upcoming Dota 2 tournaments at SEA Games 2019.

The SEA Games 2019 will be held in Philippines in December 2019. Razer is the official esports partner for this historic event where esports will become a medaled event for the first time in the world, bringing esports truly mainstream to the 600 million population of SEA.

Evil Geniuses is one of the top esports teams in the world for Dota 2 – one of the six competitive games at the upcoming SEA Games. A regular force at the leading annual global Dota 2 competition, The International, Evil Geniuses was placed first in 2015 and finished third in 2018. At time of writing, Evil Geniuses is contesting at The International in Shanghai where the Dota 2 total prize pool has exceeded $33M USD.

Over the two days of the Razer SEA Games Esports Bootcamp, Evil Geniuses’ players and coach, Sam ‘Bulba’ Sosale, will mentor the national teams at the highest levels of competitive skill for one of the world’s most popular multiplayer games.

“The inclusion of esports at the SEA Games 2019 signifies a long-awaited recognition of competitive gaming,” said David Tse, Global Esports Director at Razer. “The Razer SEA Games Esports Bootcamp is one of the many steps taken by Razer to bring esports to the next level in the region.”

The Razer SEA Games Esports Bootcamp is also supported by official venue partner *SCAPE and official broadcast partner Singtel.

As the official esports partner of SEA Games 2019, Razer will arm all competing athletes with high-performing esports peripherals. The recently-launched Razer Viper, a lightweight gaming mouse with optical switches designed in close collaboration with esports professionals, will be the official gaming mouse for SEA Games 2019.

 

Evil Geniuses’ first fan meet-and-greet in South-east Asia

Evil Geniuses is also taking this unique opportunity to hold their first meet-and-greet ever in the SEA region. Fans can look forward to meeting Evil Geniuses stars Arteezy, SumaiL and s4, together with coach Bulba, in an exclusive session. In addition, fans will stand to win signed jerseys from their favorite players.
