Elite e-Sports teams pledge support
to Razer for Extra Life global charity gaming event

International pro-gaming teams will use their star power to help Razer raise awareness and funds across all competitive gaming platforms for charity

Carlsbad, Calif. – Oct 13th, 2011 – Razer, one of the world’s pioneering supporters of e-Sports, along with several international e-Sports teams, announce their participation in this year’s Extra Life – a massive annual charity drive organized by the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.  This event sees gamers around the world play video games for 24 hours while raising funds for hospitalized children.

Top South Korean StarCraft II team SlayerS is donating USD$1k to Razer’s efforts.  Team Epsilon is donating dedicated servers where the Razer EU employees will be able to play multiplayer games together and encourage fans to join in the fun.  Supreme German juggernauts Mousesports will be organizing an exhibition match between themselves and Razer EU employees for fans to tune-in and donate via live-stream.  Counter-Logic Gaming from North America will be going down to the Intel Extreme Masters event in New York and placing “4Charity” in their nicknames.  Some of Team Dignitas’ best players are signing up to play for 24 hours under the Team Razer banner. These are just a few of the star e-Sports teams that are partnering up with Razer to blaze a trail of charitable good through competitive gaming.

“We, at SlayerS would like to support Razer’s charity efforts with the hopes that these kids will get the help that they need.  And one day, when they are better, be encouraged to follow us on the path to raise the profile of e-Sports in the world,” said Jessica Kim, Team Manager, SlayerS.  “To Razer’s charity team, good luck and have fun!”

“The Extra Life charity event encourages gamers from all walks of life to get involved with raising money for kids who sorely need the help,” said Greg Champagne, Team Manager, Epsilon e-Sports.  “Epsilon is proud to stand alongside Razer in this global event to create opportunities and a future for those who need it most.”

“When we announced our participation to the community in this major charity event, I was surprised by the huge response we got from so many e-Sports teams.  They wanted to chip in efforts, donate, and contribute ideas on how to get the fans donating,” said Robert “RazerGuy” Krakoff, President, Razer USA.  “With such prominent e-Sports teams behind us, we’re going to be in the best position to raise as much money as we can to do good for the kids.”

Razer is reaching out to encourage more e-Sports teams to participate, whether through donations or to take part directly under Team Razer’s banner for the Extra Life event.  Contact Razer’s e-Sports representative for more information.
