Razer Launches League of Legends Scouter for Razer Comms

New Razer Comms add-on brings detailed in-game player information and crystal-clear voice chat to League of Legends

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Razer™, a world leader in connected devices and software for gamers, today announced the launch of League of Legends (LoL) Scouter, the VoIP messenger add-on for the popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game. The latest version of the software has a new URL feature that provides Razer Comms users with an alternative method to invite teammates into calls. The update was redesigned in line with LoL developer Riot’s third-party app guidelines and will be available on June 30.

LoL Scouter enables communication via voice chat for match-made teams and gives detailed information about opponent skill levels to players of LoL, which has 70 million monthly active players worldwide.

Enabling voice chat in LoL coordinates teamwork and communication when paired up with friends or even strangers. Players will be able to join the ad-hoc voice call by pasting the URL link into their LoL Scouter window. The quick and easy voice chat linking can make the difference between winning and losing on the Summoner’s Rift.

On top of the voice chat capabilities, the full list of LoL Scouter features will include the following information for both teammates and opponents:

  • Champion’s name
  • Season Rank
  • Ranked and normal game win/loss ratio
  • Total Kill/Death/Assist (KDA)
  • Runes
  • Masteries

“When a game is so good that more than nearly 30 million people log-on to it daily, enhancing Razer Comms to give players an advantage over opponents was something that we were excited to tackle,” says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO. “With Razer Comms LoL Scouter, teams can now quickly invite teammates into their VoIP channel, which adds new dimension to the concept of ‘teamwork’ in-game. Additionally, critical information about opponent experience and history provided by LoL Scouter helps users make quicker, more informed tactical decisions before engaging with the enemy. Considering that communication, resource management and timing are everything in League of Legends, those are some serious benefits.”
