Team Razer To Recruit Top Pro-Gamers At WCG 2008

Cologne, Germany – November 5, 2008 – Razer™, the world’s leading manufacturer of high-end precision gaming peripherals, today announced a recruitment drive at the World Cyber Games (WCG) to sign up top pro-gamers for the ‘Go Pro with Razer’ program, a global initiative giving gaming teams a chance to turn professional with Team Razer.

Go Pro!
Razer’s support will be available to pro-gamers of Team Razer, and will be used to further equip them with the latest Razer products and apparel, provide more opportunities for them to game competitively on a global level, tournament participation funding, and for some, professional gaming salaries.

In line with that, Team Razer is looking to recruit more professional gamers at the WCG Grand Finals, held in Cologne, Germany from November 5 to 9. To be eligible for consideration into the ‘Go Pro with Razer’ program, Razer will be in search of true hardware evangelists. Unlike other companies who pay pro-gamers to use their products, Razer’s sponsorship program extends only to gamers who are already using Razer peripherals competitively.

Pro-gamers who are a part of Team Razer will also enjoy all attendant benefits of being a Razer ambassador; publicity through Razer’s communication channels, immediate recognition and an opportunity to influence future generations of Razer gaming peripherals by participating in research and validation with Razer’s scientists and engineers.

As a brand synonymous with e-sports, Razer has been a pioneer in the e-sports scene since 2000, where Razer was the first organization to sponsor US$100,000 at the Razer/CPL Tournament. Razer has followed up with numerous global sponsorships throughout the years with professional gaming teams and at competitions, and no other brand can lay claim to the cult following Razer has nurtured.

“The WCG is one of the most highly anticipated gaming tournaments on the e-sports calendar. As a brand with roots in the gaming community, Razer has chosen the WCG as a stage from which to recruit more gamers aspiring to turn professional, providing them with top-notch Razer products and opportunities of a lifetime. There is no time like the present for gamers willing to grab it,” said Robert “Razerguy” Krakoff, president of Razer.

Other professional gamers not attending the WCG are welcome to apply for sponsorship at gopro.razerzone.com
