Go Green SG: Youths Take Center Stage as Razer Propels Singapore to Forefront of its Global Green Push

Razer expands on its green pillars, affirming its commitment to championing sustainability leadership among youths in Singapore.

SINGAPORE – Razer™, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, hosted a youth and sustainability forum at its Razer SEA HQ today in celebration of Go Green SG – a national movement aimed at fostering environmental responsibility in Singapore. Together with Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, and a panel of youth leaders, the event sought to facilitate an exchange of thoughts and ideas, fostering eco-stewardship amongst today’s youth.

This is aligned to Razer’s commitment to lead by example in building a sustainable global brand for the future. Our validated short-term net zero targets and commitment to using recycled materials in our products demonstrate our resolve to drive real climate action This forum serves as a platform for them to connect them with fellow youths and discuss actionable solutions to create a lasting impact.”

Razer also unveiled a new campaign to educate consumers in making informed decisions on sustainability standards by bringing alive the last mile sustainable shopping experience through its physical locations in Singapore; RazerStore Singapore and RazerStore Funan. Razer aims to expand this experience across all the physical Razer Stores globally.

Forging Greener Products

As part of the brand’s Green Product strategy, all base models of mice, keyboards and headsets launched from year 2024 onwards will now incorporate recycled materials, like the recently released Razer Viper V3 Pro esports mouse. Razer also announced that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated its 2030 net zero targets as aligned with the 1.5-degree Celsius pathway, highlighting Razer’s commitment to impactful climate action. Razer set targets to reduce its emissions by 90% and cut supply chain emissions intensity by 55% by switching to renewable energy, decarbonize business operations and rally its value chain to do the same.

Aligned with the mission of Go Green SG, Razer is introducing its first Sustainable shopping experience at RazerStore Singapore and RazerStore Funan, which will be followed across 21 global stores in 6 markets. These stores will feature eco-related product statistics and showcase Razer’s product ranges that have secured third-party validation. This includes the Recycled Material Range that refers to gaming peripherals comprising of recycled materials, and Full Transparency Range that features the Environmental Product Declarations ecolabel.

Furthermore, Razer will offer tips for gamers on sustainable practices, like using rechargeable AA batteries on select Razer products. The stores will also promote a zero-plastic shopping experience, offering Razer woven bags only to customers who offset their product emissions through Restorify, a carbon footprint calculator available on Razer.com., a carbon footprint calculator available on Razer.com.

Youth-Led Green Community

Razer is in a unique position where it can engage directly with millions of youths, part of Razer community. Razer believes that youth are pivotal to achieving a sustainable Singapore and is committed to acting as a catalyst for this change. The objective of the event was to emphasize that sustainability is an ongoing commitment. The forum discussion with Minister Grace Fu served as an ideal platform for young leaders to hear, brainstorm and exchange sustainable solutions, emphasizing the importance of youth involvement in shaping a greener future.

“Preparing our young minds with the knowledge and tools to address sustainability challenges is essential,” said Charlene Chen, Assistant Professor of Marketing at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). “Events like this, where government leaders engage with our future leaders and leading global brands like Razer, are key to fostering a spirit of collaboration and innovation. This is how we turn our passion for a sustainable future into real solutions for Singapore.”

Inside Razer’s Green Organization

During the event, attendees were taken around Razer SEA’s main office, highlighting elements that showcase Razer’s sustainability ethos. The office occupies 3 floors and is equipped with eco-friendly features like solar panels and sensor-enabled lighting system for energy-efficiency. As part of the tour, Razer employees shared about the various sustainability initiatives. This included the well-loved Sneki Snek, Razer’s Chief Sustainability Mascot and a showcase of Razer’s research and development process for its green products.

Driving Impact through Green Investments

Through zVentures, Razer’s corporate venture arm, Razer has invested and supported up-and-coming environment and sustainability startups. Razer believes in the importance of transparency for its customers, which led to the launch of Restorify at COP27. Restorify enables businesses to integrate carbon-neutral checkouts and offers a comprehensive product emissions calculator to estimate their carbon footprint using available emission factors or life cycle assessment tools. By making the solution available to more than 60,000 merchants and partners under Fiuu’s network, Restorify has provided businesses with a pathway to evaluate the environmental impact of their products.
