For Release on February 25, 2021 at 12pm SGT:

SINGAPORE – Razer™, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers (Hong Kong Stock Code: 1337), today reaffirms its commitment to the League of Legends (LoL) esports scene with one of the brand’s largest roster expansions in Asia-Pacific. Team Razer announced two new strategic partnerships with Korean LoL giants Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) and Chinese powerhouse JD Gaming (JDG). Meanwhile, China-based Edward Gaming (EDG) and Oceanic stars Legacy Esports will continue their growth under the Team Razer banner.

Razer’s continuous investment in APAC esports is a testament to the regional teams’ growing impact on the global esports stage and will help to further nurture the region’s competitive ecosystem. As part of the various partnerships, the teams will be provided with the highest quality gaming gear from Razer, which includes mice, headsets, and keyboards, giving them the tools they need to perform at their best and set the bar for competitive play. Razer will also collaborate with athletes to develop and field-test new high-performance peripherals and push the boundaries of technology.

In addition to the new partnerships, Razer is also sponsoring the League of Legends Pro League (LPL) this year. Leveraging on Razer’s knowledge in the gaming scene, Razer will stream the tournaments and explore LPL licensed peripherals. Razer’s commitment to League of Legends, its partnerships with teams, and its investment in competitive structures will also allow them to generate more and better content for the global LoL community to enjoy.

“Team Razer has always been about empowering the best players in the world and giving them the edge in competition,” said Khang Thai, Senior Global Esports Lead at Razer. “But for the APAC esports fans, these partnerships are more than just about supporting their favorite teams, it means that they’ll get to enjoy content that they’ve never seen before, stories that have never been told – an intimate look at the players they love and follow. It also means that we’ve got a lot of activities in store for our fans as well, so stay tuned to Team Razer for the latest in esports!”

HLE and JDG join the ranks of Team Razer LoL veterans

Team Razer enters a new partnership with HLE from Korea and JDG from China, juggernauts of the game. The teams have already donned the Team Razer colors and are flying the Team Razer flag in a variety of tournaments, and are now joining an exclusive global club of top-level LoL talent including US giants Evil Geniuses and European fan-favorites Alliance.

Hanwha Life Esports, founded in 2018, is shaking the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) scene this year. The team strengthened its roster with strategic acquisitions including Kim ‘Deft’ HYEOKGYU and Jung ‘Chovy’ Jihun and is currently placed third in the LCK Spring Split.

Based in China, JDG was formed in 2017 and has won multiple tournaments since. As the champion of the 2020 LPL Spring Split and the runner-up of the Summer Split, JDG is considered by many as a strong contender for the League of Legends World Championship. With its acquisition of two star players, Su ‘Xiye’ Han-Wei and Jin ‘Mystic’ Seong-jun, the strengthened JDG team is striving for the LPL Spring Championship.

EDG and Legacy Esports mark their return to Team Razer

Team Razer has also re-signed LoL and Team Razer veterans, EDG and Legacy Esports. EDG, an established Chinese LoL team and Legacy Esports, the leading esports organization in the Oceanic esports scene will continue their esports endeavors with Team Razer.

Currently undefeated at the top of the table of the LPL Spring Split, EDG are five-time LPL champions and are currently in first place at the LPL Spring Split with no losses. Meanwhile, Legacy Esports has won back-to-back championships at the Oceanic Pro League (OPL) last year. The team continues to make a strong statement in the League of Legends Circuit Oceania (LCO).

Team Razer will also continue its support for multiple teams and talents in Japan. This includes Professional Gaming and streaming group, Father’s Back (Chichi no Senaka); Yoshimoto Gaming managed by Yoshimoto Agency, Japan’s top talent agency; all-female team G-STAR Gaming produced by popular model Yuka Kuramochi, and model and game streamer, Yunocy (Yuno Mizusawa).
